Atlas Copco Expands Portable Energy Portfolio in 2016

Atlas Copco’s Portable Energy division is preparing to launch a new generation of on-site solutions for construction, mining, drilling and quarrying industries worldwide. The new additions to Atlas Copco’s portable portfolio demonstrate a forward-thinking approach to product design, anticipating customers’ need for continuous improvement in speed, reliability and efficiency.

New efficient mobile compressor range

Ready to go mobile compressor

One of the most highly anticipated launches of 2016, the 8 Series compressor range incorporates the latest advances in air element design and delivers improved efficiency. The 8 Series compressors, with an updated HardHat canopy, break new ground in producing air at a rate of up to 5m3 per minute, while remaining compact and lightweight. Every model in the range weighs below 750kg, including a full-size fuel tank, generator and aftercooler, allowing them to be towed behind a normal passenger car without a special driving license. The new range uses 12% less fuel than comparable products and only requires less than an hour’s total service time over two years of operation.

QES Generator Range Extension

Power on the move

Successfully launched in 2015, the QES range will be expanded in May 2016. Initially offering six power nodes, 9 to 40 kVA with Kubota engines, the range will be bolstered with six new models from 60 to 200 kVA featuring John Deere engines. The QES range is the straightforward, rugged and durable solution for general applications across construction environments.

WEDA 50 and 60 Submersible Pumps

More new models to our dewatering pump range

The WEDA range of electrical submersible pumps can manage from 225 to 20,200 litres per minute with a maximum head of 85m. May 2016 will see two new models added to the range. The new 50 and 60 models deliver enhanced performance, thanks to new hydraulic parts, and improved power to weight ratios, thanks largely to a new motor design.

XAT(V)S 186 Compressor

The versatile XAT(V)S 186 range is comprised of two models featuring an intuitive PACE system (Pressure Adjusted through Cognitive Electronics), which enables multiple pressure and flow settings to help users match air flow and pressure to their application needs, without needing multiple compressor units. The highly-regarded Atlas Copco air element and John Deere stage IV engine, coupled with the PACE system, ensure higher efficiency, longer service intervals, unmatched reliability, increased lifetime and lower cost of ownership. Operators using multiple machines to cover flow demands up to 11m3/min and pressures from 7 to 14 bar now need only one compressor.

HiLight towers range

Atlas Copco’s extended tower light range

Following the latest addition to Atlas Copco’s complete range of light tower solutions, the V4 and V5+, the entire fleet of light towers has been rebranded as the HiLight range. The range offers the industry’s widest choice for a number of applications, including construction, outdoor events and industrial markets. A single light tower, dependent on the model, can illuminate an area of up to 5,000m2 , have a run time between refuelling of 260 hours and consume less than 0.5 litres of fuel per hour. In the next two months, Atlas Copco will launch two new models: the E3+ and H5+. Both are LED models and will take the complete HiLight range to seven models, four of which are LED.


The XATS 900E in action

The XATS 900E electric portable compressor combines smart engineering, proven technology and quality components. Suitable for sites with a ready supply of power, the XATS 900E is easy to install as it requires no additional foundations. The corrosion-resistant canopy of the compressor is designed for use in all weather conditions, without the need for additional rooms and enclosures. The XATS 900E delivers compressed air from 7 to 10 bar (100 to 150 psi) with a flow of up to 25 m3/min (900 cfm).

Atlas Copco’s compact iP generators deliver portable power with low fuel consumption

Atlas Copco has launched two new inverter power (iP) generators, which offer contractors a lightweight, efficient and reliable source of portable power. The P 2000i and P 3500i models are the latest additions to Atlas Copco’s complete portfolio of portable generators.

Atlas Copco’s new inverters use advanced electronics and magnets to ensure efficiency. An inverter, in essence, produces first high voltage multi-phase AC power. The AC power is then converted to DC. Finally, the DC power is inverted back to clean AC predictable power at the required voltage and frequency.

Easy to operate

The new fuel efficient generator P3500i

Designed for daily use, or for frequent single jobs, typically involving handheld power tools, the iP portable generators are easy to operate, with a recoil start function that ensures fast activation. Fuel consumption is low, thanks to variable speed control that adapts engine speed to load conditions. Additionally, the generators can be connected and used in parallel to increase the overall power capability without requiring a larger generator.

Compact and silent

Incorporating fuel tanks of four and 11 litres respectively, the P 2000i and P3500i can run for up to six hours before refuelling, which is a valuable asset on busy construction sites.

Despite their large fuel capacity, the generators are compact and sufficiently lightweight, at 21kg and 45kg, to be easily moved around sites.

The generators are also fitted with noise-reducing canopies to keep engine noise levels at a level of around 63dBA, which is comparable with an electric razor.

Thermal protection enables the generators to operate efficiently even in extreme weather conditions, while automatic voltage control (AVR) ensures clean, consistent and reliable power where it is most needed.

The new iP generators are the latest addition to Atlas Copco’s extensive range of portable power solutions and offer considerable value to users. Construction sites are becoming more demanding in terms of power needs. Low noise levels are required on all metropolitan construction to avoid noise pollution. In addition, wider environmental issues, such as reduction of CO2 emissions, are also a big consideration. Therefore easy transportation and reduced fuel consumption are a firm customer requirement.

The iP generators, together with the previously launched P generators, provide an easy-to-operate solution for contractors seeking efficiency and reliability at the click of a switch.

These generators sit alongside Atlas Copco’s larger portable generators, including the extensive QEP range, to offer customers a broad choice according to their power needs.

Designed for more intensive use, with higher power levels and extended features, the QEP model is perfect for rental use or larger work sites where the power needs to be shared. The additional safety features found on the QEP R minimise the risk of damage to the generator through misuse, while the model’s on-board differential circuit breaker provides further safety assurance. The final model in the range, the QEP S, which features a noise suppression design, is ideally suited to urban environments where even lower noise levels are required for heavy construction activities.

More predictable power on the move; QES generators range is expanded

Atlas Copco is doubling the size of its QES portable generator range with six new models designed to provide predictable power in a greater diversity of applications. The new generators, ranging from 60 to 200 kVA and fitted with John Deere engines, build upon the success of the initial QES line-up, which was launched in 2015 with six Kubota-powered models ranging from 9 to 40 kVA.

By adding more power nodes, these new additions to the QES range give greater scope to customers in the construction and rental markets who simply want reliable and user-friendly generators that can be easily transported to the point where they are needed.

Mobile Generators Family

The QES range aims to provide general construction and rental users with a practical and trusted power solution for the toughest worksites. The new additions are the QES 60, QES 85, QES 105, QES 120, QES 150 and QES 200.

Operating at a frequency of 50 Hz, the range now has higher power capabilities, from the 1,500kg QES 60, with a 160 or 450 litre fuel tank, to the 2,650kg QES 200, which comes with a 375 or 1,125 litre fuel tank. The former offers fuel efficiency of 14.8 litres per hour, at 100% prime power, while the largest in the range delivers an impressive 45.8 litres per hour when working at full load.

Atlas Copco introduces the XATS 900E electric portable compressor

Atlas Copco has launched the XATS 900E, an electric portable compressor with the versatility to suit a wide range of demanding applications. The new compressor is equipped with a 160kW motor that is highly efficient and quiet in operation.

As an energy-efficient alternative to traditional diesel-driven compressors, the XATS 900E delivers compressed air from 7 to 10 bar (100 to 150 psi) with a flow of up to 25m3/min (900cfm), while offering users the advantages of reduced running costs and reduced requirement for maintenance. Suitable for sites with a ready supply of power, the XATS 900E is easy to install on any surface as it requires no additional foundations.

The unit is up to 50% smaller and up to 30% lighter than most comparable compressors, with a power-flex frame that supports ease of movement, higher safety and protection from spillage. Additionally, the corrosion-resistant canopy of the compressor is designed for use in all weather conditions, without the need for additional rooms and enclosures.

The XATS 900E electric portable compressor

The electrically powered unit is enclosed in a silenced acoustic canopy, with sound levels of 73db(A) at 7 metres. This conforms to ISO9614-2 standards and makes the unit suitable for working in urbanised areas and confined spaces.

Compact, lightweight and easy to move, with outstanding ruggedness and durability, the XATS 900E is an excellent choice for rental fleets and customer sites.

The XATS 900E is designed to provide quality air solutions with an inbuilt aftercooler and water separator and can be fitted with optional downstream filtration to further enhance the air quality. Atlas Copco lights up Diwali celebrations at largest temple outside of India

Every autumn thousands of people visit the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir (Neasden temple) in London to celebrate Diwali, the Hindu ‘Festival of Light’. This year the festival organisers chose Atlas Copco’s LED HiLight towers to light up the walkways, pavements and areas around the temple.

As well as seeing the dazzling displays and ceremonies in the temple, the devotees and visitors mingled with the local community outside the Mandir to enjoy traditional Indian street food. To light their way and keep them safe, Atlas Copco’s HiLight light towers were selected to illuminate walkways, entrances and fire exits during the darker hours.

The HiLight H5+ and B5+ LED light towers feature a unique, fully directional optic lens that maximises practical light coverage while minimising ‘dark spots’ to ensure efficiency. A single Atlas Copco B5+ LED light tower can illuminate an area up to 5,000m2 with an average brightness of 20 lux for up to 260 hours between refueling, consuming less than 0.5 litre of fuel per hour.

We were all really impressed with the effectiveness and efficiency of the HiLight LED towers, they were both brighter and illuminated a wider area than the other manufacturer’s metal halide towers we have used in previous years. All the towers were very easy to manoeuvre using their forklift access points and this allowed us to position them with ease and confidence in tight locations. The facilities team were very happy with both the towable (H5+) and the box unit (B5+) light towers.

The H5+ is easily transportable thanks to its compact mounted trailer, whilst the B5+ has a box base which is compact enough to fit up to 22 units on a standard 13 metre truck, perfect for mass transportation.
Both the H5+ and B5+ have four LED lamps projecting 350W of light each and illuminating an area of 5,000m2. As well as demonstrating exceptionally low fuel consumption, Atlas Copco’s LED lamps are highly durable.
